Build-Your-Own Caddy Box

This course aims to introduce participants to woodworking with hand tools and gain mastery of the finger joint. The proud finger joint is a beautiful joint inspired by the Greene and Greene Brothers who advocated the use of art as furniture.

This course serves both beginners and anyone who wishes to pick up hand tool skills in order to build their own projects. In this class, you will be introduced to the world of solid wood and hand tools. It will cover enough to give them the confidence to do simple woodworking projects at home. 

At the end of the day, through active construction of the finger joint caddy box, participants would have a beautiful piece of art to take home and be confident with the use of basic hand tools and mastery of the woodworking joint. 

Through lecture, demonstration and hands-on practical, participants will:

- Understand some of the characteristic of wood movement, 

- Name basic tools in the tool kit provided

- Be able to mark out on wood

- Able to use hand saw to cut along the line

- Be confident using the bench chisel and mallet to cut finger joints

- Be introduced to the use of a drill and fasteners such as screws

- Tips and tricks of woodworking
